The Marr family have been involved in the fish business since the 1870’s. Today Andrew Marr is a Director of Andrew Marr International which has extensive interests in fish catching, international fish trading and cold storage. Educated at Stowe School he joined the family business in 1960. In 1969 he married Else Lica Andersen in Copenhagen and they have three sons and a daughter. He was admitted as an Honorary Brother of The Corporation of The Hull Trinity House in July 1991 and as a Younger Brother of the Corporation of The Trinity House, London, in July 1997.
He served as High Sheriff of the East Riding of Yorkshire 1999-2000 and was appointed Vice Lord-Lieutenant of the East Riding of Yorkshire in 2011. He is an Honorary Freeman of Beverley and is President of the Beverley Civic Society. HRH Queen Elizabeth II awarded Andrew Marr a C.B.E. in January 2022 for services to the UK Fishing Industry.
